Jonas Valanciunas was with the Grizzlies last season but now he’s with the Pelicans, and Steven Adams has taken his spot in Memphis. They should be good again, but it doesn’t really feel like they’ve done anything to be more than a play-in team. Memphis is the team that upended the Warriors in the play-in tournament last season, and they have one of the most fun and talented young rosters in the league. Is Andrew Wiggins playoff ready? Who knows? Is adding Andre Iguodala to the roster once again something that can help get the younger players like James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga ready for a championship run? Your guess is as good as mine. Is Thompson going to be the same player he was more than two years ago? We don’t know. The Warriors haven’t had a fully healthy squad for years and though many expect for them to be right back at the top of the West once Klay Thompson returns, there are too many questions that need to be answered before we can do that. It’s hard to imagine that head coach Mike Malone won’t be able steer reigning MVP Nikola Jokic to another successful campaign. The teams that will probably be good Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks There are plenty of criticisms about the the new-look and veteran squad the Lakers will field this coming season, but the time to count out James and Co. The Lakers, might have won it all for a second straight season if injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis hadn’t derailed their postseason. The Suns, like the Jazz, are for the most part bringing back the team that competed with the Jazz for the top seed in the West and took them to the NBA Finals last season. As it stands, that’s the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers. ![]() Before any games have been played and without seeing how everything shakes out during the 2021-22 season, the only thing that could seemingly be in the Jazz’s way are the other very good teams in the West.
